Move Forward: A Simple Way to Begin

The start of a new year has a way of bringing up the same question for a lot of people:

“Should I finally do something about this?”

More fitness.
More confidence.
More preparedness.
Or simply doing something that feels purposeful instead of putting it off again.

That’s exactly why we’re hosting Move Forward, our New Year Open House at Fit to Fight®.

What This is (and isn't)

Move Forward is a series of free open classes designed to let you experience our training environment without pressure, contracts, or expectations.

It’s not:

  • A hard sales pitch
  • A “new year, new you” hype event
  • A test of fitness, toughness, or experience

It is:

  • A chance to try real training
  • Meet our coaches and community
  • Ask questions and move at your own pace

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be “in shape.”
You just need to show up.

What Can you try?

During the Open House, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a variety of classes, including:

  • Self-defense–focused training
  • Striking and kickboxing
  • Ground fighting / jiu-jitsu
  • Youth programs (ages 8-12)

You’re welcome to attend one class or multiple—whatever makes sense for you.

Some Common Concerns

“Is this really free?”
Yes. The Open House classes are completely free.

“Do I have to sign up afterward?”
No. We’ll have special pricing available for those who want to continue, but there’s no obligation.

“What should I wear or bring?”
Comfortable workout clothes and a water bottle are perfect. We’ll handle the rest.

“What if I’m nervous or unsure?”
That’s normal—and expected. This event exists because many people feel hesitant walking into something new. Our coaches are there to guide, not judge.

Why We're doing this

We believe progress doesn’t come from pressure—it comes from clarity.

Move Forward is about giving people space to experience training, understand what we do, and decide what’s right for them without being rushed or sold a version of themselves they don’t recognize.

Sometimes the hardest part is simply starting. This makes that first step easier.

 Ryan Hoover is the owner of Fit to Fight® Gastonia and Fit to Fight® Charlotte. He is also the founder of the Fit to Fight® affiliate organization. He holds a 2nd degree black belt in Krav Maga and is a black belt in BJJ. He has co-author of three books on Krav Maga and is recognized by the state of North Carolina as a Subject Matter Expert in addition to playing a critical role in developing defensive tactics and training curricula for law enforcement at the state level.
